Configure Control Surfaces for SCRATCH

GENERAL

This article explains how to setup a control surface for SCRATCH. The following control surfaces / panels are supported:

  • Tangent Element (unlimited number of panels)
  • Tangent element-Vs Android and iOS app
  • Tangent Ripple
  • Tangent Wave/Wave2
  • Tangent CP200
  • Avid Artist Color

To activate a panel, open the Panel Setup tab from the System Settings menu in SCRATCH. Then select the panel from the list and click the Enabled button.

Note that with each panel there is an option labelled Overwrite Mappings. For more details on this option please read this section in the User Guide. For more information on creating user-defined panel mappings, read this section. The remainder of this article explains any particulars related to activating a specific control surface.

Enabling the Tangent Wave, Ripple, and Element (-Vs) panel

    1. Make sure to install the latest version of the Tangent Mapper from http://www.tangentwave.co.uk/support.asp
    2. Open the Mapper app and go to ‘File’ ==> ‘Panel configuration’. Click ‘Edit” in the lower right corner and make sure the Element panels are the first panels listed, before any other panel in the list like in this screenshot:
    1. Startup SCRATCH
    2. Go to System Settings ==> Panel Setup Tab
    3. Enable the corresponding panel from the list
    4. Click “OK” and restart SCRATCH
    5. A video tutorial for customizing your panel mapping can be found here.

Enabling the Avid Artist Color panel

      1. Make sure to install the latest version of the Avid Artist driver: http://euphonix.avid.com/login.php
      2. Startup SCRATCH
      3. Go to System Settings ==> Panel Setup Tab
      4. Enable the Avid Artist Color from the list
      5. Click “OK” and restart SCRATCH
      6. A video tutorial for customizing your panel mapping can be found here.

      Enabling the Tangent CP200

      1. First, make sure the hardware connection is properly established. It is not recommended to add the panels to the house-network. We recommend a setup using the second Ethernet-port of your workstation with a network just for the panels.
      2. For detailed info on how to setup the network around the CP200 see this article
      3. Startup SCRATCH
      4. Go to System Settings ==> Panel Setup Tab
      5. If you’re just running the CP200-BK panel alone, just enable the BK-panel
      6. If you’re running any other configuration with 2, 3 or 4 CP200-panels, please in all cases enable all 4 panels in this window.
      7. Then for each activated panel, fill in the serial number. This serial number is presented on each panel’s display upon power-up. It is NOT the serial-number on the sticker on the back of the panel!
      8. Fill in an individual IP address for each panel – e.g. if your workstation has the IP 192.168.10.2, your CP200-BK panel gets 192.168.10.3, the CP200-TS panel gets 192.168.10.4 and so on.
      9. Make sure that subnet mask and gateway are the same as configured on the Windows network adapter.
      10. Click “OK” and restart SCRATCH
      11. A video tutorial for customizing your panel mapping can be found here.
